The products and software introduced in Apple's WWDC 2012 maybe too exciting for some Apple fans, but have you thought about how many people and companies are going to be killed after Apple's conference. Here are a few highlight from the list. Double check whether you or your asset are on the list or not:

• Damn you Google Maps. Apple is going to start a nuclear war Steve Jobs obsessed with to Google with its maps.
• CD, DVD, Blue-Ray drive, all dead.
• Ethernet. No matter it's 100M or 1G bps speed.
• Hard "Shitty" disk drives. Backup on SSD on in the cloud.
• Evernote - export your data out before Evernote belly up.
• Google Docs - Time to switch back to Microsoft Office.
• TomTom and all GPS navigation software.
• Skype, Tango all the Video Chat "Shitty" tools.
• AIM, Google Talk, Jabber, Pidgin ... All "Chatty", "Shitty" applications.

No Ethernet !!! The last 2 projects I have been on had really crappy WiFi (and no great interest by those providing it to improve it) so it would have been REALLY inconvenient if I didn't have an Ethernet connection. I suppose you have the option of using Thunderbolt or USB 3 adapters but it seems a bit premature to get rid of it.

guys, I can't believe you are seriously debating over a rather lame 75% B/S preso put there by some "apple fanboy" types - and in fact put without an apparent intent of actually been taken seriously - more like a bit "funny" and "apple is so ubber-cool super-power" and "yea, apple is so revolutionary" kind of thing... ;-)

now,
the reason they took Ethernet adapter out is not because they declared a "war on it" because they wanted to make the thing as thin as possible and 100BT dimension was an issue...

again, as you might heard I am a big "fan" of apple hardware because I do believe it is good value (as in quality) for money, but the "presentations" like these are just far-stretched "fanboyism" B/S.. .;-)))

The only thing we are debating/discussing is whether a laptop aimed at PROfessionals should include an Ethernet port. Apple being apple decide that aesthetics is more important than practicality and that one size fits all. The lack of 17 inch model is also puzzling. The only time I have used a Mac was in a recent project when I was given a 17 inch Mac Pro to use as a development machine. I was grateful for every inch and used an external second monitor as well at the office.

(btw it is Google drive that might actually kill it! ;-))

I totally agree with you - I'd much prefer built-in Ethernet - even if it results in thicker thing - if they don't know what to "pad" the extra space with - just put more battery (!!)
